Treating Horse Injuries With Traumeel

Treating Horse Injuries With Traumeel

Just a quick post for you all on injuries.

Fortunately we have very few here. This is one of the huge benefits of keeping horses barefoot. With no shoes, injuries and lameness issues just disappear…

We did however have one severe injury, which was nothing to do with metal shoes and I thought it was worth blogging about and explaining how we used Traumeel on it.

We have just finished producing our Traumeel Remedy website…… which has taken us a while to do as I am so fussy – but is now up and running for you all to look at and use…..!

The story below is a fine example of what this outstanding homeopathic remedy can do…

Ripped Torn Flesh Under Jaw

Our colt managed to somehow tear the skin under his jaw very badly. When I saw him in the morning, he had this very large piece of flesh just hanging from under his jaw. He was completely fine otherwise. It looked as if while playing in the field he had torn his skin under the chin with his hind hoof when scratching……

When I saw it, my tummy turned over, but….

What We Did…

We cleaned it up with Eliminator and then liberally applied Traumeel Gel which we had mixed with Manuka Honey.

It was a messy wound to treat, especially as we were not able to bandage the wound as it would have meant he could not eat….

It was a matter of mixing up the Traumeel Gel and Manuka Honey then just layering it on, like you would do, when icing a cake. You only had so long, before he got bored.

I used the thin surgical gloves, to apply the mixture as quickly as possible, using either my hand or a palate knife.

Then in addition we gave him Traumeel Tablets.

8 Hours Later…

8 hours later the wound was looking clean and there was no sign of any infection. It also smelt clean. it had smelt quite strong when we first saw the injury, and infection is always the one big worry one has with these types of injuries.

You could see very fine new tissue coming through. This may sound quite extraordinary but this was the case. Remarkable.

How I Continued to Treat the Injury…

In the first few days we needed to apply this mixture of Traumeel Gel and Manuka Honey in a 50/50 mixture daily, but then as the wound improved we only applied the mixture daily and then finally every 2 days towards the end when it was looking much better.

The object always was not to let the wound dry up.

You need to keep it moist with the mixture for two important reasons:-

1.) So that the new tissue can regenerate underneath the Traumeel and Manuka Honey mixture. The mixture creates a barrier and prevents the injury from getting infected.
2.) By keeping a wound moist with the mixture, you prevent the injury from drying up and so prevent scar tissue from forming.

The flapping piece of skin eventually dropped off and later on some of the old dead tissue I was able to cut off. This was quite a bit later on.

Finally due to the way we were treating this wound, we were able to leave him outside, 24 hours a day, grazing, so no stabling was needed.

Truly Amazing – Two Years On

Just looking today at his chin, (I had almost forgotten about the above injury), there is no scarring and no scar tissue. In fact, there is no sign of this injury.

Truly amazing.

And Finally…

To be able to treat this and end up with this sort of result, with no vet, no heavy drugs, no antibiotics, no antibiotic creams, no stitching, no injections, no tranquillizers, using natural remedies, no box rest and fraught ridden colt during the whole process creates a very special feeling within oneself.

I have to thank two very special Naturopaths, John Sugarman and Martine Faure Alderson whom I worked alongside with years ago. They helped me find the confidence within myself when I started practising and working as a Naturopath to trust, research and use natural remedies and my Naturopathic skills.

My Advice

Always have a full pot of Manuka Honey, and Traumeel Gel and Traumeel Tablets in your home and yard.

If you have only these two items, they just may be able to help you if an unexpected injury occurs.

Don’t wait to buy them when you need them…. because as so often happens, it will take you 24 – 48 hours before you can get hold of them and by that stage it can be way too late as injuries can get infected very quickly, and this can lead to very much more serious problems and then you are then likely to have to use drugs and antibiotics etc

So act quickly – and the results can then be outstanding.

These two remedies have helped me in so many cases, I would never not keep them in stock.

You can also use the Traumeel Gel and Traumeel Tablets for abscesses, when horses are transitioning from shod to barefoot, if abscessing occurs. Again they are invaluable. In these instances you won’t need the Manuka Honey.
